Softball Game Preview: Muncy Indians vs. Bucktail Bucks

Muncy and Bucktail are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Indians will be playing at home against the Bucks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Muncy and Sugar Valley Rural meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Indians were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Phoenix. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Phoenix recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Rachel Paulhamus was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Haliey Adams, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Bucktail sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Montgomery on Monday.

Carrie Ditty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kendall Wagner, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Rebekah Conway was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Bucktail's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Muncy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
