Basketball Recap: Litchfield Victorious

Litchfield hadn't done well against North Mac recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Litchfield Purple Panthers pulled ahead with a 49-48 photo finish over the North Mac Panthers. For the Purple Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 50-46 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

Litchfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keenan Logan, who posted 19 points and five rebounds. Those 19 points gave Logan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nate Schaake, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The victory got Litchfield back to even at 5-5. As for North Mac, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Litchfield will be taking part in a tournament against East Alton-Wood River at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Litchfield is facing East Alton-Wood River at the right time seeing as East Alton-Wood River is stuck on a five-game losing streak. North Mac will take on Lutheran in a holiday battle at at 11:30 a.m. on Monday.
