Softball Recap: Foothill Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Foothill can now relate to. They fell just short of the Liberty Hawks by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. That makes it the first time this season the Cougars have let down their home crowd.

Elisea Wiegand spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 26-6-1. As for Liberty, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 23-8.

Foothill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty, they will face off against Hillsdale at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Fighting Knights will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
