Softball Recap: Mendon Unity Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Mendon Unity had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 17-3 to the Seymour Indians. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Savannah Zanger and Allyson Murphy did some serious damage despite the final result: Zanger scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Murphy scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Tegan Campbell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Seymour now has a winning record of 2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mendon Unity is set to face off against their familiar foe Camp Point Central at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Seymour will square off against rival Beardstown at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
