Baseball Recap: Westminster Wolves vs. Boulder Panthers
Westminster extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 7-15. They came up short against the Boulder Panthers, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-5 back in April.
Westminster saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Agustin Eudavedeloera, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
As for Boulder, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games.
On Boulder's side, Kai Paradise looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Maks Matheson and Sam Skubic did most of the damage at the plate: Matheson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Skubic got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two doubles gave Matheson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Finn Torvik, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster will face off against Pomona at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Boulder, they will take on ThunderRidge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
