Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Takes a Loss

After a string of three wins, Roosevelt's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of West Seattle by a score of 51-48. The Roughriders were probably out for revenge after losing 83-62 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Loss or not, Roosevelt got some senior leadership from Anthony Washington and Elliot (EJ) Sommers. Washington posted 15 points, while Sommers scored 13 points. The game was Washington's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Sprangers, who earned six points.

Roosevelt now has a losing record at 5-6. As for West Seattle, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Roosevelt will venture away from home to challenge O'Dea at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roosevelt is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.6 points per game this season. As for West Seattle, they will host Garfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Seattle is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
