Baseball Recap: University Extends Winning Streak to Three

University entered their tilt with Huntington on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Highlanders.

Tommy Montague made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. University is 2-1 when Montague allows one or fewer hits, but 7-9 otherwise. Montague was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brance McCune, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Curtis Quarrick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

University kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

University's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Huntington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-9.
