Softball Recap: Ingleside Snags 17th Victory in Last 20 Games

Ingleside won the last time they faced Calhoun and things went their way on Friday too. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Sandcrabs. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Kylee Ward spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ingleside got a big performance out of Kaylee Murua, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Murua has posted since back in March. Carol Rodriquez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Ingleside is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Calhoun, their loss dropped their record down to 12-12.

Looking ahead, Ingleside will face off against Victoria West at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last seven matches. As for Calhoun, they will square off against Rockport-Fulton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
