Softball Recap: Mohawk Area Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Mohawk Area and St. Marys squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Mohawk Area had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Flying Dutch by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warriors have suffered since March 24th.

Reagan Magno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Mylie Pistorius made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and one run. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Hare, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

With the defeat, Mohawk Area broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-7-1. As for St. Marys, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3.

Mohawk Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Marys, they will face off against Bald Eagle Area on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Flying Dutch 2.1, the Eagles 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
