Basketball Recap: Baptist Hill Comes Up Short

Baptist Hill lost against Burke back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Baptist Hill Bobcats were dealt a 74-11 loss at the hands of the Burke Bulldogs. The Bobcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-5.

Despite the defeat, Baptist Hill saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Makayla Mungin posted five points.

Leading Burke to victory were Nathaya Phoenix and Bryanna Graham. Phoenix dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals, while Graham made all 7 shots she took to post 18 points in addition to eight steals and six assists. The dominant performance gave Graham a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Kendall Smith, who put up 12 points and five steals.

Baptist Hill's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Burke, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Baptist Hill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 38-26 win against North Charleston on the 7th. As for Burke, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-49 defeat against Bishop England on the 7th.
