Football Recap: Bethune Falls to Weldon Valley in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Bethune had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 61-48 to the Weldon Valley Warriors on Friday. The Bobcats lost against the Warriors in their previous head to head back in September of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 58-13 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Bethune lost, don't look at Ismael Perla. Despite the final result, he rushed for 206 yards and two TDs while picking up 12.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 92 yards and one touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes. Perla was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Angel Millan was another key player, gaining 168 total yards and a touchdown.

Coming up, Bethune is taking a road trip to take on Cotopaxi at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Weldon Valley, they will welcome Briggsdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Warriors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
