After both having extra time off, the Roswell Coyotes and the Clovis Wildcats will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Roswell has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Clovis will arrive with three straight victories.
On Thursday, Roswell didn't have quite enough to beat Carlsbad and fell 3-2.
Roswell actually scored more points across those five sets (104-101), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 16-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-12.
Hobbs came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Clovis, but Brynn Petner wouldn't allow it. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Eagles on Thursday for which the team can thank Petner, who had 16 digs, seven kills, and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 19 games she's played.
Clovis never let Hobbs on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-23, 25-18.
Clovis' win came from a few key players Roswell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sophie Roberts, who had ten digs and five kills. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Salazar, who had 12 assists and four digs.
Roswell's loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Clovis, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
