Football Game Preview: Platt RVT Panthers vs. Thames River co-op [Norwich RVT/Grasso RVT/St. Bernard] Crusaders

Platt RVT is 1-7 against Thames River co-op [Norwich RVT/Grasso RVT/St. Bernard] since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Panthers will square off against the Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Platt RVT had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 36-point drubbing they dealt Prince RVT on Saturday. The Panthers took their contest with ease, bagging a 42-6 win over the Falcons. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Platt RVT got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddux Vargas out in front who rushed for 56 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 35 yards and one touchdown while completing 80% of his passes. Those 56 rushing yards gave Vargas a new career-high. Caleb Brickhouse helped out on the ground, rushing for 93 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Meanwhile, Thames River co-op [Norwich RVT/Grasso RVT/St. Bernard] made easy work of O'Brien RVT on Saturday and carried off a 28-6 victory.

Platt RVT now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Thames River co-op [Norwich RVT/Grasso RVT/St. Bernard], their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Platt RVT was able to grind out a solid victory over Thames River co-op [Norwich RVT/Grasso RVT/St. Bernard] when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 21-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
