Volleyball Recap: Castle View Sabercats vs. Chaparral Wolverines

After flying high against Legend last Tuesday, Castle View came back down to earth. The Sabercats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chaparral Wolverines on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sabercats of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

While Castle View had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 25-22.

Austin Keathley paced Castle View's offense, picking up 12 kills. Keathley got some help from Rowan Shaughnessy and his 25 assists.

Chaparral was led to victory by Logan Thomsen and Cameron Beasley. Thomsen had 11 digs and two aces, while Beasley had nine kills and nine digs. Beasley is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had eight or more in each of the last three games he's played. Frank Alvarado also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Castle View's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. As for Chaparral, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Castle View wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Douglas County on the 10th. As for Chaparral, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Mountain Vista on the 8th.
