Baseball Recap: Riverside Christian Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Riverside Christian brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They blew past the Jefferson County Tigers 10-1 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wranglers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Haiden Duke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. Riverside Christian is 2-1 when Duke posts eight or more strikeouts, but 1-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Kyan Cooper was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Pate, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Riverside Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Riverside Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Jefferson County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Riverside Christian will take on Meadowbrook Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jefferson County, they will face off against FAMU DRS at 7:00 p.m. on March 18th.
