Volleyball Recap: Smoky Valley Takes a Loss

Smoky Valley lost against Clay Center back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Vikings took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-18.

Smoky Valley's offense was headlined by Trista Spitler and Illie Debaere, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Ceeley Friesen and her 13 assists. Finally, Brinna Flax kept Smoky Valley's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Smoky Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-21 record this season. As for Clay Center, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 29-2.

Smoky Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Halstead on the 13th. As for Clay Center, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Abilene on the 11th.
