Baseball Recap: Liberty Wins High-Profile Match Against Freedom

Liberty faced Freedom in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Hurricanes had just enough and edged out the Patriots 3-2. The Hurricanes haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Michael Mariano Jr. looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Max Landis, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Horvath, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Liberty's record now sits at 16-4. As for Freedom, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-5.
