Basketball Recap: Carpinteria Comes Up Short

Carpinteria extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-18. They came up short against the Santa Ynez Pirates, falling 65-43. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 80-65 to the Pirates when the teams met back in January of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Santa Ynez, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points over those games.

Santa Ynez was led to victory by Jude Pritchard and Gael Villalobos. Pritchard went 7-for-12 to rack up 18 points and seven rebounds, while Villalobos shot 78% from the field on his way to 16 points and five boards. That's the most points Villalobos has posted since back in December of 2025. Another player making a difference was Lucas Ollenburger, who put up nine points and eight rebounds.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Carpinteria will square off against Channel Islands at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Santa Ynez, they will face off against Righetti at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.
