Basketball Game Preview: Point Loma Pointers vs. Mira Mesa Marauders

Point Loma hasn't had much luck against Mira Mesa recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Point Loma Pointers will head out to challenge the Mira Mesa Marauders at 5:45 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Point Loma is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-45 heartbreaker at the hands of La Jolla. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pointers have suffered since November 18, 2024.

Meanwhile, Mira Mesa was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 61-55 to Mission Bay. While losing is never fun, the Marauders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while the Buccaneers are ranked 50th).

Mira Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Point Loma, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.

Point Loma was taken down by Mira Mesa 82-40 in their previous meeting back in January. Can Point Loma avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
