Basketball Recap: Enka Comes Up Short

Enka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the McDowell Titans and fell 82-40. The Jets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-20.

When it comes to explaining why Enka lost, don't look at Logan Trantham. Despite the final result, he went 8 of 15 en route to 29 points. That was a full 72.5% of Enka's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lawson Mcclure, who scored five points.

McDowell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rylan Parkins, who earned 17 points. Parkins has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Kyson Rinnert was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Enka's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for McDowell, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.

Enka will challenge Asheville at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Enka is facing Asheville at the right time seeing as Asheville is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for McDowell, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 81-65 win against Erwin on the 17th.
