Baseball Game Preview: Clinton Dark Horses vs. Red Springs Red Devils

For the second straight game, Clinton will face off against Red Springs. The Dark Horses will be playing at home against the Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Clinton's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Red Springs has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Clinton barely beat Red Springs the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dark Horses were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Red Devils on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Dark Horses, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Cooper Sessoms spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jaxson Smith, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Bass, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Clinton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Red Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
