Volleyball Recap: Springfield Tigers vs. McDonald Blue Devils
After flying high against East Palestine on Monday, Springfield came back down to earth. The Tigers lost 3-0 to the McDonald Blue Devils on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in August.
Springfield was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-22, 25-17.
Baelyn Brungard paced Springfield's offense, picking up 17 kills. Brungard got some help from Makenna Wymer and her 22 assists. Emily Conner controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Miley Titus had a dynamite game For McDonald., getting 19 digs and two aces. Titus has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last eight times she's played. Mia Maley also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
Springfield's defeat ended a three-match streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6. As for McDonald, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
Coming up, Springfield is taking a road trip to take on McKinley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for McDonald, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against LaBrae on the 24th.
