Baseball Recap: Coram Deo Academy Comes Up Short

Coram Deo Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Midland Christian on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 5-4. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Grant Edens was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Coram Deo Academy is 3-1-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-15 otherwise. Edens was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Edens wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Luterek, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Coram Deo Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-16-1. As for Midland Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-11.

Coram Deo Academy and Midland Christian could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Lions will square off against McKinney Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (900 vs. 183). Meanwhile, Midland Christian (ranked 391st) will meet Trinity Christian (ranked 152nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
