Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Carson walked away with it. Everything went their way against the King/Drew Golden Eagles on Friday as they made off with a 27-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won seven matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Chris Fields iii was his usual excellent self, rushing for 136 yards and two scores on only 12 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 195 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Carson's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Evenijayden Tuioti, Curmon Williams, and Darren Panton, who each picked up one sack apiece. Tuioti was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing two fumbles, and making two total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Carson has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.6 points on average over those games. As for King/Drew, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Coming up, Carson will take on Garfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colts' defense better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 33 points per game this season. King/Drew does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
