Basketball Recap: Chesterton Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Chesterton waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Portage Indians, sneaking past 44-42. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Indians back in January, they had to take a 55-44 loss.

Portage lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was O'Mari Evans, who posted 16 points. What's more, he also posted a 80% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Garrett Clark, who earned nine points and five rebounds.

Chesterton's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Portage, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 15-5.

Chesterton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-58 win against Hammond Central on the 15th. As for Portage, they will head out on the road to square off against La Porte at 7:00 p.m. on February 21st. Portage is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season.
