Baseball Recap: Hillsboro Wins Going Away Against Sikeston

Hillsboro was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Sikeston on Wednesday. The Hawks blew past the Bulldogs 12-5. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Max Partney was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Gunner Sutton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Hillsboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Hillsboro has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sikeston, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

As of now, neither Hillsboro nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
