Recap: Regis Jesuit Raiders vs. Cherry Creek Bruins
On Tuesday, the Regis Jesuit Raiders faced the Cherry Creek Bruins in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Regis Jesuit fell to Cherry Creek 60-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hana Belibi, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Coryn Watts was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cherry Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tianna Chambers, who scored 23 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of A'neya Chambers, who scored 18 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Regis Jesuit and nudges their season record down to 7-5. As for Cherry Creek, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Regis Jesuit will head out on the road to take on Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chaparral is on a three-game streak of home wins, Regis Jesuit a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Cherry Creek will take on Doherty at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Doherty focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Monday.
