Softball Game Preview: Wakefield Wolverines vs. Roxboro Community Bulldogs

The Wakefield Wolverines will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Roxboro Community Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Wakefield will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Friday, Wakefield needed a bit of extra time to put away Falls Lake. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Firebirds, sneaking past 4-2.

Aniela Piscorik looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brenna Colleran, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Brianna Riehle was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Roxboro Community had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of Eastern Alamance by a score of 5-3.

Wakefield's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Roxboro Community, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
