Baseball Game Preview: Tottenville Pirates vs. Richmond Hill Lions

Tottenville is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while Richmond Hill is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pirates will host the Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Tottenville 1.6, Richmond Hill 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Richmond Hill's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Tottenville hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Pirates never let Monroe Campus get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Tuesday. Throwing, Ortiz struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Duarte struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Ortiz went 2-for-5 with two RBI, while Duarte went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Adrian Hernandez V and Christian Duarte did most of the damage at the plate: Hernandez V got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Christian got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Hernandez V a new career-high in hits (three). Ismael Luciano was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Richmond Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive games.

Tottenville's victory bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Richmond Hill, their win bumped their record up to 14-2-1.
