Baseball Recap: Alcoa's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Alcoa came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Austin-East Roadrunners a 20-0 shutout. The Tornadoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Carver Worde looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Levi Spivey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Miles Watson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Alcoa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Alcoa's victory bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Austin-East, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Alcoa will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Roadrunners: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
