Softball Recap: Sparta Comes Up Short

Sparta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the La Crosse Central Riverhawks. The Spartans were not able to make up for their loss to the Riverhawks from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Jocelyn Lietzau made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Sparta's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for La Crosse Central, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Looking ahead, Sparta will take on Viroqua at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for La Crosse Central, they will challenge Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
