Robert Lee is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Texas' top teams: Water Valley, who was ranked first at the time (Robert Lee was ranked 12th). The Steers were beaten by the Wildcats 67-30 on Friday. The game marked the Steers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Robert Lee saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Josh Garcez picked up 73 receiving yards and one score, and also punched in one TD on the ground.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Veribest's offense. They were outmatched by Water Valley and fell 46-0. Having soared to a lofty 66 points in the game before, the Falcons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Having lost for the first time this season, Robert Lee fell to 8-1. As for Veribest, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
