Baseball Recap: Cherryville Finds Playoff Glory Versus Hayesville

Cherryville extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Hayesville. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Yellowjackets 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Ironmen sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Parker Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cherryville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roy Powers, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Cherryville's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hayesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
