Softball Recap: Stagg's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Stagg came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Lathrop Spartans, falling 20-2. The Delta Kings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Aerie Garcia put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

Garcia wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rachael Symoungkhoune, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Symoungkhoune is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Stagg moved to 5-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Lathrop, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Stagg is taking a road trip to take on Mountain House at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lathrop, they will host Pacheco at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
