Recap: Woodson Warriors vs. Anacostia Indians
The Woodson Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They received a tough blow as they fell 46-29 to Anacostia. Woodson lost against Anacostia in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 55-24 score last time.
Anacostia's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nayjah Duvall, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Duvall has scored at least 25% of Anacostia's points. The team also got some help courtesy of LaNiya Jackson, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.
Woodson bumped their record down to 0-3 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 20.3 points per game. As for Anacostia, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Woodson will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Coolidge at 5:30 p.m. on January 10, 2024. Anacostia will be home for the holidays to greet School Without Walls at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
