Eunice suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after a 23-0 loss to Texico. The Cardinals had been ranked 23rd, but fell to 30 following the defeat.
Dexter made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,177 from 12,405. The advance stemmed from a 7-0 victory over the Demons last week.
New Mexico Military Institute's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Todd Dennis threw for 17 yards and Blade Allen had 10 yards receiving. On the ground Chris Sharfin chipped in 85 yards. Kilian Cahill helped New Mexico Military Institute's passing attack out by catching one ball for seven yards.
The Colts' Allen and Cahill have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A District 4 in both passing and receiving yards. Allen has thrown for 275 yards this season, while Cahill, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has seven catches for 131 yards. Eunice's Eric Leyva leads the league in rushing yards with 271.
