Preview: Newcastle Bobcats vs. Aspermont Hornets
After five games on the road, Newcastle is heading back home. They will take on the Aspermont Hornets at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Newcastle will be strutting in after a win while Aspermont will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Newcastle beat Bryson 53-41. The win was just what Newcastle needed coming off of a 80-45 defeat in their prior match.
Aspermont suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 62-38 walloping at the hands of Knox City. While losing is never fun, Aspermont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1325th, while Knox City is ranked 637th).
Aspermont's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Seth Johnson, who scored 14 points, and Jaxon Hodges who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Newcastle's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Aspermont, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8.
Newcastle was dealt a bruising 49-12 defeat at the hands of Aspermont when the teams last played back in November of 2020. Can Newcastle avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
