Baseball Game Preview: Parsons Vikings vs. St. Mary's-Colgan Panthers

The Parsons Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the St. Mary's-Colgan Panthers on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Parsons not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9, 2024 (when they won 9-0). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Cherryvale a 7-0 shutout. The Vikings' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Joe Keal and Mikey Ramsey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Keal tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Ramsey kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. What's more, Keal posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Keal went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Ramsey went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's-Colgan entered their tilt with Galena on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 15-1 win.

St. Mary's-Colgan pushed their record up to 6-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Parsons, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Parsons might still be hurting after the 15-4 loss they got from St. Mary's-Colgan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
