Basketball Recap: West Florida Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

If Bay wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played West Florida, they should've done a better job of containing Amani Bartholomew. The West Florida Jaguars breezed by the Bay Tornadoes to the tune of 51-23 on Monday thanks in part to Bartholomew, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 13 boards. She also grabbed six steals, which is notable because West Florida is 11-3 when she posts at least five steals, but 3-4 otherwise.

Breanah Peace and Nevaeh Childs certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Peace posted six points along with 13 rebounds and three steals, while Childs put up five points. Peace has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 11 times she's played.

The victory was the sixth in a row for West Florida, bringing their record for this year to 14-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Bay, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

West Florida wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-40 loss against McGill-Toolen on the 28th. As for Bay, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-45 win against Destin on the 27th.
