Baseball Recap: Bland County Bears vs. Grayson County Blue Devils
Bland County had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it nine. They lost 11-0 to the Grayson County Blue Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-9 back in March.
As for Grayson County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Considering they have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Grayson County's part, Mac Goad made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Goad has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Makray Goad and Mav Goad did most of the damage at the plate: Makray went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Mav went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Grayson County is undefeated when Makray posts two or more runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Troy Stockner was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
