Baseball Recap: Weston Find Success

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Wednesday. Weston came out on top against Westport by a score of 6-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Ryuji Nawa made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Nawa was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Thomas Keller looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Jorajuria, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Massimo Buchbinder also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Weston's record is now 14-5. As for Westport, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-8-1.

Looking ahead, Weston will welcome Wayland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last five games the Warriors have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Westport, they will head out on the road to square off against Diman RVT at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 4, the Bengals 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
