Preview: Corvian Community Cardinals vs. Pine Lake Prep Pride

The Corvian Community Cardinals will be playing at home against the Pine Lake Prep Pride at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Two weeks ago, Corvian Community came up short against Carver and fell 26-14. Despite 64 more yards than Carver, Corvian Community couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Meanwhile, Pine Lake Prep had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 60-44 win over Carver. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.

Gabe Bolivar continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 416 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per carry. Bolivar's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards. Mikhail Massey got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Carver to a paltry 62 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Pine Lake Prep's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Ryan Connotillo and his two sacks.

This is the second loss in a row for Corvian Community and nudges their season record down to 4-4. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-7 Carver (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.3% over those games). As for Pine Lake Prep, their win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
