The Lawrence Academy Warriors will square off against the Crossroads Christian Colts at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Lawrence Academy sitting on ten straight victories and Crossroads Christian on three.
Lawrence Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let North Hills Christian get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Nike Wiggins, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Eason, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Lawrence Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Hills Christian only posted an OBP of .067.
Meanwhile, Crossroads Christian narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Cape Fear Christian Academy 2-1.
Crossroads Christian also got a great performance from Bobby Bobbitt as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched.
At the plate, Crossroads Christian saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Lawrence Academy pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Crossroads Christian, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lawrence Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Crossroads Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .370. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Lawrence Academy's way against Crossroads Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Lawrence Academy made off with a 7-0 victory. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Colts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
