Baseball Game Preview: Cheney Tech Chargers vs. Manchester Red Hawks

The Cheney Tech Chargers will head out to face off against the Manchester Red Hawks at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Manchester took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Cheney Tech, who comes in off a win.

While Chargers fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They came out on top against Vinal RVT by a score of 7-2 on Wednesday.

Spencer Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Thomas Fortunato was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Manchester lost 12-5 to Glastonbury on Wednesday.

Pj Ortiz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Jahil Cortes was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Cheney Tech suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Manchester when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
