Volleyball Recap: Nipomo Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Nipomo, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Santa Ynez Pirates 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Titans have posted since March 4th.

Nipomo was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (108-99), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23, 18-25, 16-25, 15-13.

Alex Cortez paced Nipomo's offense, picking up 19 kills. Cortez got some help from Chase Spicer and his 48 assists. Cortez also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Henry Gibson, racking up three apiece.

Nipomo's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Santa Ynez, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Nipomo has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against San Luis Obispo on the 12th. As for Santa Ynez, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Orcutt Academy on the 13th.
