Softball Game Preview: Chisum Mustangs vs. Rains Wildcats

Chisum is 1-8 against Rains since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chisum Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Rains Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Chisum has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Chisum is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Mount Vernon, falling 19-2.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rains). Everything went their way against Commerce on Wednesday as Rains made off with a 20-2 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Chisum's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Rains, the win got them back to even at 9-9-1.

Chisum suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Rains in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Chisum avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
