Mead is a perfect 10-0 against Skyline since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Mavericks will face off against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On Tuesday, Mead came up short against Niwot and fell 3-1. The Mavericks haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
While Mead ultimately came up short, they really made Niwot work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 25-14, 18-25, 25-17.

Despite the loss, Mead had strong showings from Emmy Tecu, who had 11 digs, and Alana Costello, who had 22 digs and three assists. Tecu is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played. Kenidee Nix also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
Meanwhile, Skyline didn't have quite enough to beat Erie on Monday and fell 3-2.
Skyline wouldn't go down easily and took Erie into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-12, 23-25, 21-25, 15-9.
Mead's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Skyline, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Mead hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 5.4 blocks per game. However, it's not like Skyline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 blocks. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Mead's way against Skyline when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Mead made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
