Volleyball Recap: Flowing Wells Caballeros vs. Mountain View Mountain Lions
Flowing Wells was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mountain View Mountain Lions. The Caballeros were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mountain Lions earlier this season, when they won 3-2.
Flowing Wells wouldn't go down easily and took Mountain View into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-19, 25-15, 22-25, 15-11.
Daniel Coronado paced Flowing Wells' offense, picking up 21 kills. Coronado got some help from Chris Anaya-Ashe and his 28 assists. Coronado also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Shane Anaya-Ashe, racking up three apiece.
Flowing Wells' defeat dropped their record down to 15-18. As for Mountain View, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-17.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Flowing Wells will take on rival Desert View at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mountain View is set to face off against their familiar foe Canyon del Oro at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
