Baseball Recap: Eldorado Takes Down Ranked Sandia

Eldorado faced Sandia in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Golden Eagles had just enough and edged out the Matadors 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Eagles have posted since February 25th.

Jace Sanchez-Reynolds looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brody Hoffman, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Abram Pine, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

The win (which was Eldorado's third in a row) raised their record to 15-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sandia, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 18-4 record.

Eldorado will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Matadors: the pair will be back at it again later today.
