Basketball Game Preview: Clarkton Reindeer vs. Gideon Bulldogs

The Clarkton Reindeer will head out to face off against the Gideon Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, Clarkton was beaten by Bernie 67-30. The Reindeer have struggled against the Mules recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Gideon lost to Twin Rivers on the road by a 70-55 margin two weeks ago. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while the Royals are ranked 143rd).

This is the second loss in a row for Gideon and nudges their season record down to 2-8. As for Clarkton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Clarkton didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Gideon in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 48-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clarkton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
